What We Like

After many distractions and a multitude of re-writes, I have finally finished this column. Sorry for the delay.

Sometime ago I began to ponder why we like Sean O'Haire. Immediately a plethora of words came to mind. These words ranged from G-Rated to XXX, and I don't mean Vin Diesel! At once I knew that this question could not be summed up with only one word. I then posed the question to you, the Sean fans at SOC. I also reviewed the Seanton Bombers section for information. The following is what my research concluded.

I am no psychiatrist. I was a history major, but I believe that as human we react first to what our eyes perceive. This would certainly account for the comments, which overwhelmingly came for female fans. Comments like, he is "really cute" (Jesslyn, MO) and "really handsome" (JT, CA). Then there is the "He is gorgeous" (Natalie, TN) and then there are those who agree that Sean is "HOT!" (Denise, ON and Christina, NY). I personally agree with all of them, but I particularly like the way it was worded by Jessica from MN. Jessica said, "He looks GOOD AS HELL!!!!"

Sean is certainly one Sexy man. In order to keep this somewhat PG rated I will refrain from giving the details of his "sexiness". Instead I will just let the fans speak for themselves. Ms. Toni from IL points out those "beautiful baby blues", on which I totally agree as to do many of the other gals. I really like that Ms. Toni also points out that, what she calls, "magnetically enchanting wild grin." Ladies, you know the one. Swoon! Swoon! Swoon! Elizabeth (MI) describes Sean as having a "devilish-look." I like that about him too. His entire aura radiates an untamed, wild energy. The unkempt, unruly hairstyle accents this perfectly.

Up to this point I know it sounds like a purely physical thing, but honestly there is more to it. For example, his attitude is very appealing. Our friend from TN, P-Nut, describes Sean as intense. To which Ms. Toni expands by saying that Sean "has charismatic energy and focus so noticeable that you can actually feel it." More comments about his attitude include "He is so mysterious" from Jo in England. Her country mate Helen adds that Sean has a "Mean and moody side." Keisha from LA describes Sean as being aggressive. Indeed he is that. I am sure everyone of you immediately get a visual of a moment when Sean was aggressive in the ring.

His attitude and physical ability go hand and hand. He is very powerful and very athletic. This combination is what impresses Amy (IL) who says "Sean is an awesome physical specimen who has the stealth and grace of a man with a much smaller build." In agreement Jessica (MN) adds that "He is a heavy- weight, but he flies like a cruiserweight." About that flying that Sean does, Paris (WA) commenting on the Seanton Bomb says of it that "it is a very graceful move and hard to pull off, but even with his size Sean was able to do it make it look beautiful." Some might say that he does it better than even Jeff Hardy. His moves are deliberate and his high flying is graceful. Truly a thing of beauty. to use a cliche he is real "poetry in motion".

So that covers his look, attitude, and ability. by no means does any of these things sum up why Sean O'Haire fans love him. Many of these qualities can easily be found in other wrestlers, so what is it that is so special about Sean? Could it be that he simply has it? So then the question becomes, What is "it"? And we are back to square one!

To try and sum this up and attempt to make some sense of it I have selected some comments that I feel explain it all. Sort of.

Elizabeth (MI) says: Sean is the kind of guy you give a second look to and you're not sure why, but you keep looking.

Chris (OH) says: I feel Sean O'Haire does not receive the respect he should, his size and looks just screams WWF World Title scene. His devilish looks and high risk moves will make Sean a superstar, one day it will be his time.

Nikole (OH) says: I love the way he looks. Kinda like the Incredible Hulk, only he's not green and he's not a bad monster.

John (NY) says: He has the agility of a Jeff Hardy, he has the power of Kane, the vicious kicks and shoot fighting style moves like Tajiri, what more can you ask from a complete wrestler?

Elizabeth (MI) (Same as earlier, I think) says: It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. His looks. His style. . . And most of all, his attitude. ( I LOVE THIS PART, says KITTY) In Star Trek, he'd be a Klingon warrior. He tells his opposition with a glance, "I'm in a perpetually pissy mood and I'll rip your head off if you look at me wrong."

Finally, when asked, "Why do you like Sean?" Kuff (GA) said: Why?! Are you kidding me?! the guy is huge and does superkicks! Whats not to like?!

So . . . Why do we like Sean? For a multitude of reasons.

So . . . Can it be summed up in one word? No. Yes. Sort of. Not really.

Well I can sum it up for myself in one word. I like Sean because . . . he is Beautiful. But . . . then I have to define what beautiful means to me.

Me thinks I doth think too much. It is time for me to go back to school. I am overanalyzing. Master's thesis, here I come. . .

Let me conclude by saying that it is safe to say than Sean O'Haire fans are that because Sean has the look, the attitude, the ability, the desire, and the intensity to succeed. He is motivating and inspiring to many. The people who are his fans are looking for certain things in a sports entertainer and Sean fills all of their requirements. O'Haire fans are 100% supportive to a man who probably doesn't even realize how many lives he touches and inspires with his personal strong determination and his characteristic intensity.
