By Rob O'Connor
There's absolutely nothing wrong with BBMak and therein may lie the problem. Their harmonies are pitch perfect--an Eagles for the new millennium! They combine the rugged outdoorsmanship of acoustic guitars with the modern convenience and power of electric ones--an Eagles for the new millennium! And their songs are incredibly tight, hook-ridden and radio-ready--an Eagles for the new millennium! Every song has the potential to be a hit. So what's the problem?
Exactly that. Everything is so efficient, so indestructibly designed that it's hard to hear this British trio's second album as anything more than the most successful laboratory experiment of the year. If producer Rob Cavallo were up for the "Most Successful Cloning of a Successful Pop Act, Circa 2002," he should win unanimously. For people who think "Out of My Heart (Into Your Head)" is a great turn of phrase (it's the first single), they will be encouraged to know that throughout this album hearts broken get fixed and lovers make it through the night. You might say the entire production leaves you with a Peaceful Easy Feeling.
